Meniscal Tears

The menisci of the knee joint are two pieces of cartilage that function to distribute body weight across the knee joint. They act as a 'shock absorber' and help stabilise the knee. Meniscal tears are among the most common injuries to the knee. The two most common causes are sports related injury and degenerative meniscal tears as people get older.

Menisci tear in different ways and tears are noted by how they look as well as where the tear occurs in the meniscus.
